Our mission is empowering students with learning disabilities to maximize their potential in a positive therapeutic educational environment.
Established in 1999, Pepin Academies are 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit, tuition-free, public charter schools that serve students with specific learning and learning related disabilities. We educate students in 3rd through 12th grade, and also offer a transitional, job training program for students 18 to 22-years-old. Pepin Academies are considered ESE Center schools. We feature a nurturing environment that focuses on improving the academic and social success of students. All students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities such as sports, clubs, music, dance, culinary arts, theatre, and much more. Our goal is to make sure no child falls through the cracks.
Today, Pepin Academies has grown to serve over 1000 students, with Hillsborough County campuses in Tampa and Riverview and a campus in New Port Richey, which serves the students in Pasco County.
Pepin Academies’ Tampa campus also offers a Transition Program that is a comprehensive individualized program of vocationally-based training in conjunction with life and job readiness courses, designed for young adults ages 18 to 22 who have an identified learning or learning-related disability. The program offers on-site career training through community partnerships such as TPepin’s Hospitality Centre, Publix Super Markets, Moffitt Cancer Centers and the Hillsborough County Public Defender’s Office just to name a few.

What Makes Pepin Unique
Pepin AcademiesPepin Academies are full-time ESE day schools in the State of Florida that offer a standard diploma option for children with learning and learning-related disabilities in grades 3-12.
Pepin Academies follows a modified calendar starting school in late July. Students have the same number of school days, but have a shorter summer break with more breaks throughout the school year.
At Pepin Academies, the approach is about the whole child. Pepin Academies are an example of how a well-designed educational program, dedicated and innovative teachers, committed parents and our civic and business communities can work together to provide for the individual needs and opportunity of a child, regardless of the special challenges he or she may face.
We offer a nurturing atmosphere that focuses on improving academics and social achievement. For students who qualify, therapy is provided, at no cost, with access to social workers, mental health counselors, occupational therapists, physical therapists, sensory integration, and Speech Language Programs.
We provide individualized instruction for each student and utilize continuous and authentic assessments. The curriculum is diversified and driven by the needs of the students. All students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, such as sports, music, culinary arts, student government, and dance. These are opportunities that they may not otherwise have at a traditional school setting. Our goal is to make sure your child doesn’t fall through the cracks. We ensure readiness for post-secondary education or entering the workforce.
Pepin Transitional is a comprehensive individualized program of vocationally based training in conjunction with life and job readiness courses, designed for young adults ages 18 to 22 who have an identified learning or learning-related disability. This program is state funded and is provided at no cost to the student.
Our school has developed and evolved to offer more opportunities on job sites to provide the hands-on, pre-vocational training opportunities necessary when developing employability skills and transitioning to the world of the workforce. We offer vocationally based training in conjunction with life and job readiness classes designed for individuals from age 18 to 22 with identified learning or learning-related disabilities that have deferred receipt of their high school diploma to continue their education beyond the traditional 24 credit diploma.
Our mission at Pepin Academies Transition Program is to create a high intensity, low threat therapeutic learning community that celebrates the gifts of every student. Our vision is to prepare students to meet the academic, social, and emotional challenges encountered in everyday life, while providing them with the necessary skills to successfully complete pre-vocational training and ultimately transition to a rewarding career.
We currently have various pre-vocational job-site opportunities that allow hands-on, real world training. In addition to on-site job skill training, we have classes that focus on career exploration and preparation, social emotional functioning skills, self-determination and self-advocacy skills, and independent functioning skills for adult living.
Our program is committed to providing the opportunity for students to have real-world experiences through pre-vocational training at various job sites, including the Hillsborough County Public Defender’s Office, Publix Supermarkets, Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa Police Department, Well Built Bikes at University Mall, food service at Raymond James Stadium, event set up at TPepin Hospitality Centre, and childcare at Academy Kids Learning Center. Various pre-vocational experiences allow our students to have real work training with ongoing support and supervision from our Job Coaches, ESE Teacher and Transition Coordinator.
Pepin Academies Transition Program is now accepting applications for the 2019-20 academic year! Please contact us regarding any questions about deferment of diploma, available services for your students based on their current IEP, and any general questions about the Pepin Academies Transition Program. We look forward to working with you and helping to make your transition from school to the workforce successful.
